Designed as a proposal for the Michigan Renaissance Festival, Tomak's labyrinth model features four movable wall sections that can be configured to make 16 different maze patterns. Once constructed, this labyrinth would be a permanent structure and an annual festival attraction. An obelisk is positioned in the center of the maze, towering over the labyrinth walls as an enticement for visitors to enter, and reach the midpoint. Labyrinth walls include strategically placed open windows, so that the inner chamber and the obelisk may be glimpsed from outside the maze and nearly every corridor inside. These images show a simplified labyrinth design, without the fountained atrium. |
